Ooni Karu 16: Ooni’s Flagship Pizza Oven
Background: The Ooni Karu 16 is Ooni’s flagship pizza oven and the first domestic pizza oven to ever be officially recognized by the AVPN—the international body that regulates authentic Neapolitan pizza.
With these credentials, you know the Ooni Karu 16 is perfect for Neapolitan pizza. But with multi-fuel support and a huge baking surface, this pizza oven can do all other styles as well, like New York, New Haven, and even Detroit.
Ideal User: We recommend the Ooni Karu 16 to those looking for a pizza oven with no compromises . As a larger pizza oven (16 inches and 62.6lbs), the ideal user of the Ooni Karu 16 has ample space in their yard (or patio) for usage and storage.

Ooni Karu 12: Multi-Fuel On A Budget
Background: The Ooni Karu 12 is the smaller counterpart to the Ooni Karu 16 with the same multi-fuel functionality. With its small form factor and wood burner, this oven is naturally suited for Neapolitan pizza—but with the ability to burn charcoal and propane as well, it certainly isn’t limited to any particular style. At only 26.4lbs, use this pizza oven on a small patio, a balcony, or even bring it camping with you.
As of 2023, the Ooni Karu 12 is priced at only $299, making it by far the least expensive multi-fuel pizza oven in the collection.
Ideal User: We recommend the Ooni Karu 12 to those looking for a multi-fuel pizza oven at the lowest possible price. This pizza oven is highly portable and will fit in just about anywhere. And with multi-fuel support, it can make just about any style of pizza as well.
This year, the Ooni Karu 12 is 20% off, which saves you $59.80 off the regular price.
Ooni Koda 16: Least Expensive 16 Inch Pizza Oven
Background: The Ooni Koda 16 is a large 16-inch pizza oven that supports propane right out of the box, and natural gas with an optional attachment. The advantage of the Ooni Koda 16 is its large 16 inch baking surface and the simplicity of a gas fueled flame.
Unlike wood or charcoal, lighting and maintaining a propane flame is as easy as turning a dial. Anyone who’s ever used a propane barbeque will have no problem operating the Ooni Koda 16.
The Ooni Koda 16 is the pizza oven I use most often at my house. I love wood-fired, but 90% of the time I want something quick and easy, and this oven fits the bill perfectly. I also love the new and improved L-Shaped burner design.
Ideal User: We recommend the Ooni Koda 16 to those looking for a large pizza oven that’s easy to use at a good price. If you want something big and don’t care about wood-fired cooking, this is the pizza oven for you.

Ooni Karu 12G: Ooni’s Newest Bestseller
Background: In 2023, Ooni released an upgraded version of the Karu 12 and named it the Ooni Karu 12G. This is a 12 inch, multi-fuel pizza oven just like the original. This time around, the new Ooni Karu 12G includes all of the great features of the Ooni Karu 16 and features a much more efficient gas burner.
Ideal User: We recommend the Ooni Karu 12G to those looking for a more compact and less expensive version of the Ooni Karu 16. With the optional gas burner attachment, this pizza oven is probably the best and most efficient propane pizza oven in Ooni’s collections.

Unfortunately, the Ooni Karu 12G isn’t included in this year’s Black Friday sale, probably because it’s brand new. Maybe next year!

Ooni Koda 12: Convenience & Portability
Background: The Ooni Koda 12 is the 12 inch “little brother” of the larger 16 inch Ooni Koda 16. This pizza oven can do everything its larger counterpart can but in an even more compact size that can easily be tossed in the back of the car for a camping trip or stored on a shelf when not in use. And at only 20.4lbs, you’ll have no trouble carrying this pizza oven from one location to the next.
Ideal User: The Ooni Koda 12 is perfect for those who want the simplicity of propane and the portability of one of the sleekest and most compact pizza ovens on the market today. This oven is sure to please both first time pizza oven owners and experienced cooks looking for something new and unique.

Ooni Fyra 12: Perfect Wood-Fired Neapolitan Pizza Oven
Background: The Ooni Fyra 12 is perhaps the best wood-fired, Neapolitan pizza ovens available—in fact, it’s easily one of my favorite pizza ovens of all time. It stands alone as the only Ooni oven that uses wood pellets, and features a unique gravity-fed pellet hopper, this pizza oven makes flame management about as easy as it gets without using gas. Lots of competitors have tried to match this oven for its price and features, but so far (in my opinion) none have succeeded.
Ideal User: The Ooni Fyra 12 is ideal for users looking for an authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizza oven experience along with the convenience of a gravity-fed wood pellet hopper. This pizza oven will please anyone who appreciates excellent design and smoky wood-fired pizza.

Ooni Volt 12: The Best Indoor Electric Pizza Oven
Background: Earlier this year, Ooni (once again) shook up the pizza oven world with the release of the Ooni Volt 12, the first and only Ooni pizza oven that is fully electric and safe for indoor and outdoor use. This is one of the few electric pizza ovens for sale in North America that can reach temperatures up to 850F.
Ideal User: We recommend the Ooni Volt 12 for those who prefer cooking indoors, especially those who lack the outdoor space for an outdoor pizza oven. The Ooni Volt 12 can easily fit right on your kitchen counter, even in a tiny apartment or condo.
This year, the Ooni Volt 12 wasn’t originally included as part of the Black Friday sale. As of 11/20, Ooni has changed their minds and it’s now 20% off. That represents a savings of $200 off the regular price, which makes it by far the biggest savings on any pizza oven this year.
Why You Need A Pizza Oven
Pizza ovens offer high heat, often up to 1000F, enabling a quick cook time of 60-90 seconds and producing a superior crust that’s crispy outside and soft inside, unlike the often dry result from a home oven.

Questions To Ask Yourself Before Buying A Pizza Oven
- What Kind Of Pizza Do You Like? Choose a pizza oven that aligns with the pizza style you love. Wood-burning ovens are ideal for smoky Neapolitan pizzas, while ovens with temperature control are suitable for New York-style pizzas. Multi-fuel ovens cater to both preferences.
- How Big Do You Like Your Pizza? Consider the size of the pizza you want to make. A 12 inch oven is adequate for standard-sized pizzas, but for larger, New York-style slices, a 16 inch oven is necessary. Remember, you can make smaller pizzas in a larger oven but not vice versa.
- What Kind Of Fuel Will You Use? Your fuel choice impacts the pizza’s flavor and the oven’s convenience. Wood or charcoal provides a traditional smoky taste, whereas propane is quick and easy to manage. Multi-fuel ovens offer the most flexibility.
- Where Will You Use Your Pizza Oven? The location where you’ll use the oven influences your choice. Gas ovens are recommended for smaller or enclosed spaces, while wood or charcoal ovens are suited for open outdoor areas.
Important: Know the difference between American and Neapolitan styles of pizza. The cooking method differs significantly between American and Neapolitan pizzas, with American pizzas requiring a slower cook at lower temperatures and Neapolitan pizzas needing a quick, high-heat cook for their distinctive crust. American style pizza is ideally suited for propane, while Neapolitan style pizza is traditionally cooked with wood or charcoal.
