Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • 6 small ramekins or dessert molds

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin (1/4 oz)
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • Fresh berries optional, for topping
  • Mint leaves optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Sprinkle the gelatin over 3 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until completely dissolved. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any lumps.
  • Pour the mixture evenly into 6 ramekins or dessert molds. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
  • Unmold the panna cotta onto serving plates if desired, or serve directly from the ramekins. Garnish with fresh berries and mint leaves, and enjoy!

Notes

For a fun twist, try adding a splash of orange or almond extract for extra flavor. Leftover panna cotta can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
